Dr. Sylvia Reiser is Retiring!
May 12, 2023

It is with great pleasure but also with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Sylvia Reiser will be retiring from Muddy Creek Animal Care Center on Friday, June 16, 2023. Below please find her farewell letter. Dr. Reiser, Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment through the years to all of the pets in your care, clients, and staff alike at Muddy Creek. Priceless, truly. It has been a pleasure working with you. You will be missed by all, of that, we are sure. Happiness and health to you and yours as you begin the next chapter of your life. Happy Retirement!

Dear Friends, Clients, and Colleagues,

It is with very mixed emotions that I announce I am leaving my employment at Muddy Creek on June 16th and will be joining my husband in retirement. I can’t believe how quickly my time here has passed and find myself thinking back to that last year of vet school when everyone advises you not to be concerned about that first place you work “because no one stays at their first job anyway”. Well, that turned out not to be true, because as soon as I landed at Muddy Creek,
I knew I had found my place!

Dr. Liebert, Ana Hubbard, and the rest of the team have created a culture that
supported our professional goals, but also felt fun and allowed enough autonomy that I felt I could practice with authenticity, in my own style, and according to my personal moral code. It felt like the clients responded to this positive environment as well, and I was able to foster so many rewarding relationships. I have felt very appreciated and I am honored to have helped care for several generations of the four-legged members of so many families.

I feel the need to shout out to all the departments that make Muddy Creek an exceptional place to be: To all of the doctors, who always made themselves available as counsel and support, to the incredibly dedicated techs, who put in so many long hours and without whom none of us could function, to Client Care, the pet attendants and groomers, who create that critical bridge of communication between the clients and the hospital. You always had my back and I hope
you felt that I had yours!

I’ll miss being here but intend to carry on volunteering for local pet shelters, as Muddy Creek always encouraged us to do. I look forward to sharing more travel and activities with my husband, and to pursuing hobbies and interests that I’ve put on the back burner for so long – who knows, I may even take another stab at tap dancing! I leave with the knowledge that all the pets visiting Muddy Creek will continue to enjoy excellent care and I want to thank all of you, and all of the Muddy Creek family, that made my time here so special.

With sincere regards,
Sylvia Reiser
